Case study - art exhibition support

Wings of Art Barbie Runway Exhibition

Cross-border procurement, butterfly sculpture production support, workshop execution and interactive photo technology.

Wings of Art curated an artist-led Barbie runway exhibition in Singapore, inviting local artists to transform Barbie dolls into a long runway-style art presentation. ACT Creative supported the project behind the scenes through sourcing, material coordination, custom production support and interactive experience implementation.

Final outcome

The public saw a polished runway exhibition. The support work sat behind every detail.

The final presentation combined a pink runway environment, wooden crate display bases, printed exhibition graphics, floral decoration, lighting, artist-created dolls, a rice-themed workshop and a large butterfly artwork. The project was led by Wings of Art; our work focused on making the physical materials, custom components and interactive systems arrive and function on time.

Project context

An artist-led Barbie runway with many physical touchpoints

01

Curated by Wings of Art

The creative and event direction was led by Wings of Art. Local artists created works based on Barbie dolls, then presented them in a long runway-style exhibition format.

02

Decorative exhibition build

The venue needed wooden crate display bases, printed materials, flowers, natural wood structures, lighting and small details that made the runway feel complete.

03

Support, not full curation

Our contribution was practical: sourcing, procurement tracking, custom frame coordination, workshop planning, technical implementation and installation support.

Procurement agent role

Many small materials had to become one reliable event supply chain

Selected procurement records. The full folder includes more sourcing, checking, packing and delivery evidence.

Much of this work was not glamorous, but it was the part that kept the exhibition buildable. We sourced and coordinated items from China domestic suppliers and marketplace channels, then managed substitutions, stock changes, packing status, domestic movement and international delivery into Singapore.

Timeline controlTracked missing stock, replacement options and late changes before they affected the event date.
Logistics coordinationHandled China-side domestic shipping, consolidation and international delivery planning.
Material breadthCraft pens, DIY materials, print pieces, lights, wood structures, tools and workshop supplies.
Custom productionCoordinated the butterfly sculpture frame from China and supported its final installation route.
Butterfly sculpture

A custom skeleton became the exhibition's largest visual anchor

The butterfly sculpture was the core object: a custom frame was produced, artists and volunteers attached glass and crystal details, and the final artwork was suspended in the exhibition before later appearing in an MBS indoor setting.

Planning

Turn the artwork into a producible frame

The sculpture needed to start as a practical structure: size, shape, suspension logic and production feasibility had to be aligned before the artistic finishing work could happen.

Production and install

Frame, finishing, hanging and site problem solving

After the frame arrived, the artistic finishing and installation required coordination between creative intent, volunteers, site conditions and practical handling. The finished work became the strongest visual symbol of the exhibition.

Songhe workshop

A sponsor workshop turned rice into a hands-on butterfly artwork

Workshop execution

Materials, flow and photo-ready interaction

Songhe, a rice sponsor, needed an activity that matched the exhibition theme. We helped implement a DIY workshop where children colored rice grains, attached them to butterfly-shaped wooden pieces and created a take-home artwork. The work covered material preparation, table flow, interaction logic and photo system support.

Interactive photo system

A butterfly projection wall added a digital layer to the physical exhibition

Technology implementation

Projection, capture and guest output

The selfie wall helped turn the butterfly motif into an interactive moment. We supported the visual system, capture flow and output logic so visitors could engage with the exhibition beyond static viewing.

What this case proves

Art exhibition support is a mix of sourcing discipline and production imagination

Wings of Art handled the wider event vision. Our role shows the kind of support ACT Creative can provide when an exhibition needs many suppliers, many small objects and a few technically important highlight pieces to work together on a fixed event timeline.
